What is the BLAH hackathon and symposium?
Before the hackathon, literature annotation resources will be collected and "linked" to each other.
During the hackathon, we will spend 4 days together to explore novel uses of the linked annotations.
After the hackathon, the results will be presented and future directions will be discussed.
What is the goal?
To establish an open infrastructure to integrate various efforts of literature annotation, from annotated corpora to tools for manual and automatic annotation.
To collect various annotations and align them to up-to-date, original texts of PubMed and PMC articles.
To seek innovative applications through utilizing the richness and variety of linked annotations.
How can you contribute?
Submit extended abstracts for collaboration and data integration (see call for contributions for details)
Attend Hackathon for collaborating together to develop the proposed ideas
Online collaboration before the hackathon is required to make the hackathon efficient.
Attend Symposium for discussion on hachathon results and future directions

Panel discussion
How will the results be published?
Selected extended abstracts will be presented at the symposium, and published in BMC proceedings.
All the participants will co-author one or two joint journal paper(s).
A journal special issue is also planned for more detailed results description from this event.
